Steve Gilbert – Biography

As a Creative Director for Film and Motion graphics for the last four years at what is now Publicis Chemistry I have been creating concepts and treatments and developing them into exciting projects, responsible for delivering films and motion graphics for clients such as Panasonic and The Cloud.

The experience I have acquired over the last twenty years has given me a great understanding of the developing digital postproduction pipeline from brief to the final delivery, with extensive experience working with film crews using HDV through to Red Cam and the Canon 5D DSLR, all of these technologies presenting their own unique challenges.

Through my career I have worked as an off-line and on-line editor, compositor and director, creating and directing projects both live action, CGI and a mixture of the two, with extensive experience shooting blue/green screen.

I have also been hands on for many of the projects, using After Effects and Final Cut Pro extensively as well as the many Adobe packages and I am currently developing my skills with Cinema 4D.

The frequently shifting landscape of technology is always changing the way we work, yet the process from conceptional idea to final delivery has not, the development of a set of sequences which tell a story will always be fundamental, no amount of grading can hide that, and it is this that is at the core of what I do, it has a beginning, middle and end, it educates and informs, and most importantly…it answers the brief.
